ADC introduces a series of performances. Here the emphasis is not placed solely on the production of a piece of architecture, but on the process of writing for this site specific utopia, making sound and music in the city.
The process of transforming materials, translating them, and permanently redefining them within a site specific approach, a public space, a spot in the urban landscape or travels around the different “worlds” within the city (the beach, downtown, public spaces, favelas, cultural venues), adapting to each reality and reprocessing itself for each context. To facilitate this transformation process, we are creating different events and parties as part of the project. The idea behind this reformulation is to study how in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, urban culture, social customs, and local mythologies continually reprocess “globalized” objects, music, etc. until a symbolic Brazilian music is manufactured that is entirely local.
in Rio and São Paulo aim to reach a large public audience that extends beyond the art and architecture communities. Multiple scenarios will introduce the project into public spaces, in locations such as the beach, downtown, minority neighborhoods, and favelas. The project will develop different scenarios for the specific locations, to create local public installations and happenings, as well as more musical or festive performances. In each instance, the music will be linked to the local landscape and will participate in the scene or culture of its particular location in places such as Ipanema Beach, Sambodrome, and the Japanese neighborhood of Liberdade in São Paulo.
